Main-Line Drain Clearing

Main-line clogs affect every drain in the house. Water backs up through the lowest fixtures first, typically floor drains, showers, or ground-level bathtubs. You may also hear gurgling from toilets when you run water elsewhere in the home.

We start with a mechanical cable (snake) to restore flow. For stubborn or recurring blockages, we use hydro-jetting, which scours the inside of the pipe with high-pressure water to remove grease buildup, mineral deposits, and root intrusion. Hydro-jetting cleans the full diameter of the pipe, not just a path through the middle of the clog.

Sewer Camera Diagnosis

A cleared drain does not always mean a healthy pipe. After restoring flow, we can run a high-definition sewer camera through the line to check for cracks, root intrusion, bellied sections, and pipe deterioration.

This step is especially important for recurring clogs. If the same drain backs up every few months, the pipe itself is likely damaged. The camera shows us exactly what is happening underground so you can make an informed decision about repair or replacement before the next backup.

Got a Drain Backing Up?

When Drain Cleaning Leads to Something Bigger

Many of the sewer line replacements we perform start as a simple drain cleaning call. The homeowner calls about a backup, we clear the line, and the camera reveals pipe damage that explains the recurring problem.

If the camera shows significant damage, we walk you through the findings and discuss options. Sometimes a section of pipe can be repaired.

Other times, a full sewer lateral replacement is the right long-term answer. We present the facts and let you decide.

Household Drain Issues We Handle

Beyond main-line work, we clear and diagnose clogs in kitchen sinks, bathroom sinks, bathtubs, showers, laundry drains, and floor drains.

Common culprits include grease accumulation in kitchen lines, hair and soap buildup in bathroom drains, and foreign objects lodged in the pipe.

If a clog is localized to one fixture, it is usually a branch-line issue that can be resolved quickly. If multiple fixtures are slow or backing up, the main line is likely involved.

Frequently Asked Questions About Drain Cleaning

Snaking (mechanical cable) punches through a clog to restore flow. Hydro-jetting uses high-pressure water to clean the entire interior of the pipe, removing grease, scale, and roots along the full pipe wall. Hydro-jetting is more thorough and better for recurring clogs.

Recurring clogs usually point to a pipe problem rather than a usage problem. Cracked pipes catch debris, bellied sections collect waste, and root intrusion grows back after each clearing. A sewer camera inspection can identify the underlying cause.

Chemical drain cleaners can corrode pipes over time, especially older cast iron or clay lines. They also tend to open a small channel through the clog rather than clearing it fully. Professional mechanical or hydro-jet clearing is more effective and safer for your plumbing.

If only one sink or shower is slow, the clog is likely in the branch line serving that fixture. If multiple fixtures back up at the same time, or if water comes up through a floor drain or shower when you flush a toilet, the main line is involved.

We are available Monday through Saturday, 7:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. We schedule 3-hour arrival windows and call ahead before the technician arrives.
